Brooklyn Meets Scandi: Highlighting the Père Basin in a Stunning Greenpoint Townhouse

An Omvivo Design Moment in New York City
When a piece from an Australian brand makes its way into a stunning design project overseas, it's always an exciting moment. We're thrilled to share one such installation featuring our Père Round Semi Inset Basin in a gorgeous Greenpoint Townhouse in Brooklyn, New York.
This project, designed by the talented team at Lea Architecture, is described as a calming Brooklyn-meets-Scandi space, perfectly exemplifying how clean, thoughtful design can make a bold statement. The architects needed a fixture that could hold its own against a striking colour drenched palette and the Père basin was just the ticket.

The Architect's Vision: Sculptural Simplicity
The bathroom design was anchored by a dramatic maroon colour-blocked wall. To temper this rich hue, the basin needed to be white, simple, yet intentionally designed.
We were delighted to receive direct feedback from Jane Lea of Lea Architecture on why the Père basin proved to be the ideal fit.
Key Features of the Père Basin in this Design
The selection of the Père basin was driven by its specific design attributes:
- Matte Finish: The smooth, matte finish of the basin is a crucial element here. It helps the crisp white stand out beautifully against the textured, painted wall, adding a tactile layer that feels refined and modern.
- Semi Inset Design: This shape offers a contemporary profile that is both sculptural and functional. It's a subtle way to add interest without being over the top, it’s pared-back, as Jane Lea noted.
- The Perfect Contrast: Against the moody, intense maroon, the basin acts as a stunning focal point, providing that essential balance and crispness the design required.
The resulting bathroom is a truly superb space! A perfectly balanced design where bold colour and clean lines meet to create a tranquil, yet modern, aesthetic. It’s truly rewarding to see our Australian design principles translate so brilliantly on the world stage, especially in such a high-calibre project by Lea Architecture.

"For our Greenpoint Townhouse project in Brooklyn, New York, the client had been looking for a sink that was the perfect balance of simplicity and sculptural. The bathroom was going to be colour-drenched, so the sink needed to be white and feel pared-back, but intentional – something beautiful but easy to incorporate. The Père Round Semi Inset Basin was ideal. Its shape and matte finish were a little bit different in a way that made it special, without being garish or too stand-out. It was a great fit for the space and our design."
